‘Illustrated, as advertised’ is Steve Simpson’s first solo show since Miss Baker pinned his ‘Birds of the British Isles’ series to the cork board in 3rd class. That exhibition lasted a whole term, you only have a mere 3 weeks to see this one! Steve was the winner of Fire's 2011 ILLUSTRATION at FIRE competition and this exhibition will showcase a selection of recently commissioned and self initiated projects, from a career that spans nearly three decades. The Show opens tomorrow, Wednesday 7th March at 6pm at The Copper House Gallery and all are welcome, so drop by to see some award-winning illustration and find out more about the mysterious Magic Monkey.....

Isabel is an Irish illustrator living and working in Madrid, Spain and another member of IGI that will be exhibiting at the official opening of The Copper House Gallery. Isabel works in both digital and traditional mediums in design, editorial illustration and children's books, check out her work on the book 'The Magnificent Toby Plum'. The piece above is called 'Two for Tea'. To truly appreciate how gorgeous this illustration is in the flesh, you will just have to come to the opening. Another little fact on Isabel is that she is a member of Munchausen Collective. Munchausen is a group of three creatives who share a common love for design, illustration and music and have mixed it all together to create music and event promotional material.
The official opening of The Copper House Gallery is Tuesday the 27th of September at 7.30pm. To open the Gallery we are having an exhibition by 'The Illustrators Guild of Ireland'. Let us know you're coming on facebook and follow us on twitter to keep up to date with all of the latest news.
Artist, illustrator and organiser extraordinaire for the Illustrators Guild of Ireland, Una Gildea will be exhibiting at the official opening of The Copper House Gallery. Una is a collage artist and creates abstract, odd and, very often, obscene images that come with a healthy dollop of humour and irreverence that I so much enjoy. Una has produced commercial work for The Irish Times , The Sunday Tribune, WomenMeanBusiness and Cara Magazine. On the night Una will be exhibiting some of her recent collage work and the animation above called 'Resurrerection,'. I'II leave Una with the final word on the piece,"Christ was betrayed and crucified as were a generation of Ireland's children. The only difference is that the latter really happened."
You can see Una's work along with that of other members of the Illustrators Guild of Ireland at the official opening of The Copper House Gallery on the 27th of September at 7.30pm. Attend our event on facebook and follow us on twitter to keep up to date with all the news.
Phil McDarby is a digital artist, photographer, composer and one of the member of the Illustrators guild of Ireland who will be exhibiting at our official Gallery opening and launch on Tuesday the 27th of September at 7.30pm. Phil specialise in creating fantasy and sci-fi characters and environments. He has won over 50 international award and been featured in Expose 6 & 7 as well as many international magazines included Advanced Photoshop. The work Phil will be exhibiting on the night is called 'An Encounter at Greenspindle,' it depicts the first meeting in the woods between the Apple Dragon and the Fire fairy. This piece took months of work, mixing photography and painting layer upon layer in Photoshop and at the end of it all a nice gig and a half of rendering. I couldn't tell you exactly how Phil does it but luckily enough for me Phil posted a fascinating insight into his process on his blog. Check out: 'The Green Man Awakens - A Walkthrough.'
Peter Donnelly illustrator and animator will be exhibiting as part of a group show of work by members from the Illustrators Guild of Ireland at the opening of The Copper House Gallery on Tuesday 27th of September. Peter has illustrated over thirty books for clients including, Fras na nGaeilge, Leabhar Breac, Mentor Books and the Educational company of Ireland. He has also worked as an animator in Europe for Don Bluth Studios, Hahn film Berlin and in America for DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox.
Peter will be exhibiting his latest project/concept for an illustrated children's book on the German fairy tale Rotkappchen (Little Red Ridding Hood). For this particular project Peter used a Germanic woodcut style really suited to the fairy tale. I love the graphic shapes, lines and block colours the style captures the more sinister undertones of the story, it's definitely one of my personal favourites. Come to the opening to see the piece in it's entirety on Tuesday the 27th of September at 19.30pm. Let us know you're attending on our Facebook events page, keep up to date by following us on twitter and check this blog for more posts on the IGI members exhibiting at our Gallery Opening.
