Sky’s the Limit

Sky’s the Limit Image

Rolling out Fire's doors as we speak are the 60 portable units we have recently produced for Sky. Working with our friends from Giraffe The Agency, we designed a fully self-contained unit which is easy to transport but gives great brand exposure.

These units are a mini-version of the full Sky kiosks of which were also designed and built here at Fire. Keep your eyes peeled for the familiar faces of Toy Story's characters as our units travel nationwide!

Lets Get Lyrical

Lets Get Lyrical Image

Last Wednesday Leszek and illustrator Steve McCarthy were interviewed by Regan Hutchinson for  RTE Lyric FM's Culture File. The show was aired this past Friday the 30th of September. If you missed it here's a link.

Leszek was interviewed about The Copper House Gallery, our 3 year €150,000 Arts initiative and the current IGI exhibition in the gallery.  Steve, a member of IGI exhibiting at The Copper House Gallery spoke about his first illustrated children's book, 'Sally Go Round the Stars,' published by O'Brien Press. The book is a collection of favourite Irish and English nursery rhymes illustrated beautifully by Steve. All proceeds from the book will go towards the National Children's Hospital in Tallaght. My favourite has to be 'Three Blind Mice,' above.

Digital Artist Phil McDarby

Digital Artist Phil McDarby Image

Phil McDarby is a digital artist, photographer, composer and one of the member of the Illustrators guild of Ireland who will be exhibiting at our official Gallery opening and launch on Tuesday the 27th of September at 7.30pm. Phil specialise in creating fantasy and sci-fi characters and environments. He has won over 50 international award and been featured in Expose 6 & 7 as well as many international magazines included Advanced Photoshop. The work Phil will be exhibiting on the night is called 'An Encounter at Greenspindle,' it depicts  the first meeting in the woods between the Apple Dragon and the Fire fairy. This piece took months of work, mixing photography and painting layer upon layer in Photoshop and at the end of it all a nice gig and a half of rendering. I couldn't tell you exactly how Phil does it but luckily enough for me Phil posted a fascinating insight into his process on his blog. Check out: 'The Green Man Awakens - A Walkthrough.'

Illustration at Fire

Illustration at Fire Image

Well, we're going to tease your rocks off with some fabulous images over the next six days as we're preparing for a big event in The Copper House Gallery next week and to give a great setting for the launch we're hosting a terrific exhibition of work by members of The Illustrators Guild of Ireland.

There's already fierce arguments in the studio as to which images should be printed on which paper surface and anyone that wants to pop over with sane or (even sage advice!) is more than welcome to join in.

The gorgeous diatom drinking man in the illustration is by Eoin Coveney and he blew our socks off, especially as his was the first image to arrive for the show.

The exhibition is on view from next Monday with the opening night next Tuesday, the 27th of September at 7.30pm - please RSVP .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you'd like to join us?

If you're an illustrator then please stick with us on the blog until Wednesday morning next when we're announcing our big event, you won't want to miss it, promise!

PS. If you don't know what a diatom is go to Diatoms Ireland and find out.
