The New Year is upon us and with it the sombre reality of coming down from the fabulous sugar highs of over indulging at Christmas.
We're especially delighted to ring in this new year as it brings lots of energy with new exhibitions, exciting new initiatives and our Propeller 2012 competition. This year will see The Copper House Gallery host exhibitions by Sean Hillen, Steve Simpson, Kevin McSherry, Una Gildea and our 2011 Propeller winner, Darek Fortas. His first solo exhibition, Coal Story , opens next Wednesday 11th (more details to follow!)
We will also be launching Propeller 2012 on the evening of Wednesday 11th and will be hosting details here from then on! Later, in the spring, we will announce details of our new competition for Photographers and Fine Artists working through photography. This competition will have a prize fund of €25,000 and will take place in the autumn with a fantastic exhibition for the ten finalists.
We're determined to provide even more resources for our college students and hope that we'll receive lots of exciting proposals for events and exhibitions from all years. The college graduate shows are only a few months away so please let us know if you want any help or advice. We'll be holding a workshop soon on designing, planning, printing and installing end of year and graduate shows and hope to see you then.
Fire would like to wish the DIT Photography graduates the very best of luck as their show opens tonight. We were lucky enough to work with the students, printing and finishing the prints for their exhibition, and we look forward to continuing this relationship as their careers flourish!
We're chuffed to have won the tender for the Waterford Crystal Visitors Centre. We'll be implementing all elements of the Waterford Crystal corporate identity as well as all environmental graphics, both internally and externally. We'll be using some beautiful new techniques and materials and we'll post more pics soon, so watch this space.
The NCAD Graduate Show 2010 opens this Friday. We were delighted to be asked to print and finish so many students' work this year and we wish them all the very best. Getting a sneak preview of the great work coming out of the art schools is always a highlight of the Fire calendar!
