To honour the spirit, talent and distinctive beauty of The Liberties, it is a joyous occasion to announce the 43rd annual Liberties Festival to take place from Wednesday 17th July to Sunday 21at July 2013!! The superlative programme features the best of music, film, photography, pop-up projects, theatre and community events, and an exploration of the history of Dublin’s historic Liberties area.
Earlier this year, Liberties Festival called on the public to create a photography exhibition by capturing images of the people, places and happenings in the Liberties on 1st May 2013. Hundreds responded with incredible photos and a selection of 60 images – One Day in the Liberties - to be exhibited at the official Liberties Festival launch to take place at Gallery Zozimus on Francis Street, Dublin 8, 6pm Wednesday 17th July 2013.
As part of One Day in the Liberties exhibition, the winners of The Liberties Festival /NCAD – Distillers Press Poetry Competition will read their commended poems. Extracts of the poems (to be exhibited) were printed at Distillers Press, NCAD by the poets, with guidance from the amazing Letterpress Print Workshop team Seán Sills, Mark Plunkett and Jamie Murphy.
